About & Editorial Standards
Our Mission
Energy News America is an independent editorial publication dedicated to rigorous, nonpartisan coverage of the United States energy sector. We report on the infrastructure, markets, policy, and technology that shape how Americans generate, transmit, and consume electricity and fuel.
The U.S. energy system is undergoing its most consequential transformation in a century. We believe that transformation — with its profound implications for economic competitiveness, environmental outcomes, national security, and the daily lives of every American — deserves serious, sustained, and sophisticated journalistic attention. That is what we aim to provide.
Editorial Independence
Energy News America operates independently of any utility, energy company, trade association, advocacy group, or government entity. Our editorial decisions are made exclusively by our editorial staff, without input from advertisers, investors, or external parties.
We do not accept sponsored content, native advertising, or any arrangement in which payment influences the placement, framing, or content of our reporting. If we ever accept advertising from energy industry participants, such advertising will be clearly and visibly labeled as advertising and will be physically separated from editorial content.
No individual or organization that provides financial support to this publication receives any advance notice of stories, any ability to review or comment on coverage prior to publication, or any editorial consideration in exchange for that support.
Coverage Areas
Our reporting focuses on the following areas of the U.S. energy sector:
- Grid & Infrastructure — Transmission planning, interconnection policy, grid reliability, and the capital investment required to modernize the bulk power system.
- Renewables — Solar, wind, geothermal, and hydroelectric power development, including permitting, economics, and grid integration challenges.
- Natural Gas — Production, pipeline infrastructure, LNG exports, and the evolving role of gas in the U.S. energy mix.
- Policy & Regulation — Federal and state energy regulation, legislation, and the regulatory agencies — FERC, DOE, EPA, CFTC — that shape energy markets.
- Markets & Finance — Wholesale electricity markets, commodity prices, energy investment trends, and the economics of the energy transition.
Editorial Standards
Accuracy
We are committed to factual accuracy. Before publication, claims in our reporting are verified against primary sources — regulatory filings, official data releases, academic research, and on-the-record statements from named sources. We do not publish claims that cannot be independently verified or that rely solely on anonymous sources without corroboration.
Source Attribution
We attribute all factual claims to identified sources wherever possible. We use anonymous sourcing only when a source has a legitimate reason to speak without attribution, when the information is independently significant and cannot reasonably be obtained from on-the-record sources, and when senior editors have approved the use of the anonymous source. We do not use anonymous sources for opinion or speculation.
Conflicts of Interest
Members of our editorial staff are required to disclose any financial interest in energy companies, utilities, or related businesses. Staff members with material conflicts of interest do not cover the companies or sectors in which they hold interests.
Corrections Policy
We correct errors promptly and transparently. When a published article contains a factual error, we issue a correction that clearly identifies the error, states the correct information, and notes the date on which the correction was made. We do not delete or silently alter published text. Corrections are appended to the original article and noted in our correction log.
To report an error, contact us at editorial@energynewsamerica.com with the subject line "Correction Request."
Opinion and Analysis
We distinguish clearly between news reporting, analysis, and opinion. News articles report facts and attribute interpretations to named sources. Analysis pieces, which are labeled as such, may include the author's informed assessment of the significance or implications of events, but are grounded in reported fact. Opinion pieces, which are also clearly labeled, represent the views of identified contributors and do not necessarily reflect the views of our editorial staff.
Our Team
Energy News America's editorial team includes reporters, editors, and contributors with backgrounds in energy journalism, energy policy, engineering, and finance. Our staff brings direct experience covering federal energy regulation, commodity markets, and the technical dimensions of the energy transition.
